Benelli Imperiale 400 To Be Launched This October
Benelli India is all primed to challenge its rival, Royal Enfield this festive season by introducing the Imperiale 400. The Benelli Imperiale 400 is coming to India this year and is expected to outstrip Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Jawa in the cruiser segment. The brand is also introducing two new motorcycles in the 250 cc segment by the end of 2019.
The Benelli Imperiale will be the first retro-styled motorcycle in the company’s Indian portfolio. The design of the Benelli Imperiale is kept simple, and features split seats, a twin-pod instrument cluster and pea-shooter type exhaust.
The best part about the Benelli Imperiale 400 is that it is powered by a single-cylinder, air-cooled 373.5cc engine that makes 20.4hp at 5,500rpm and 28Nm at 3,500rpm. Rumours have exposed that Benelli is all set in developing a BS VI-compliant engine, which will power the Imperiale when it’ll go on sale in India. The company is also hunting to localise a few components to ascertain that Imperiale is priced competitively.
Added to this, the Benelli Imperiale 400 features a 41mm telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers. 300mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc takes care of the braking part. The cruiser also features teardrop fuel tank, round headlamp, twin seats, and chromed out engine and exhaust for the old-school appeal. The bike has a kerb weight of 200 kg and a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres.
Besides Imperiale 400, Benelli is also optimistic on its new launch Leoncino that is priced at ₹4.79 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The company is dedicated to selling a minimum of 100 units of the motorcycle every month. It will also continue to retail its existing portfolio ranging between 300-600 cc and are locally assembled at the Benelli’s facility near Hyderabad.
