BMW and Daimler to Team Up for a Push In the World of AI
As the automobile industry is moving towards the segment of self-driving cars, two industry giants, BMW and Mercedes-manufacturer Daimler have initiated their first step towards the development of Autonomous Driving technology. The two German auto giants will team up for developing self-driving technology featuring driver assistance system, automated driving, and self-parking.
SAE or the Society of Automotive Engineers levels determine the automotive capabilities of the vehicles. The ranks are measured between 0-5 and the German giants are planning to develop level-4 technology for the automobile industry. In level four, the car will be capable of performing all the functions by itself along with the functionality of manual override.
As per the reports, BMW and Daimler are planning to target 2024 for installing the technology in their models making them available for the consumers around the globe. According to the giants, these results won’t be kept secret and they prefer technology over manual driving stating, it is safer than human driving.
BMW has already facilitated the world with its Vision M Next, an autonomous vehicle that is being stated as the smartest car currently in the world. The main aim of the collaboration is to create a situation where autonomous driving will be considered safer than manual driving.
Other companies to participate in the world of autonomous driving include Audi, Volkswagen, Fiat and so on. Autonomous driving is being considered as a game-changer in the industry and if the automobile industry succeeds in developing the technology, our lives will hit the top-notch luxury and safety.
