BMW X6 Third-Gen Ready to Roar on The Streets; Also Gets Off-Road Driving Modes

One of the oldest models from BMW recently got showcased with some new aesthetics in the Frankfurt Motor Show 2019. The BMW X6 in its third generation is more sculpted, powerful and comprises of more tech than ever before. It rides on the same BMW cluster Architecture from the X5 but remains the sharp-looking CUV from the outside with an illuminated grille.

The new generation also brings the new powertrains – the entry-level sDrive40i and the xDrive40i. Both the models work on the BMW’s twin-scroll turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six producing 335Hp and 447Nm of torque. Such power gives the vehicle all the required energy to complete the 0-100kmph sprint in just 5.2 seconds (sDrive) & 5.3 seconds (xDrive).

The much powerful version X6 M50i gets BMW’s twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 engine producing 523Hp and 750Nm of torque. With such incredible power, the X6 M50i reaches 0-100 in just 4.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 249kmph. This powerhouse is also capable of towing up to 3200kg.

Both the inline-six and V8 version function on an 8-speed automatic transmission and with the double-wishbone front and 5-link rear suspension adds to the speed by maintaining the perfect balance of the vehicle. They also make X6 more agile and provide optimum comfort to travelers. One can also opt for the Dynamic Handling Package that adds performance upgrades in the vehicle such as active roll stabilization and active steering.


If you think of the X6 as more of a rugged vehicle, the xDrive40i comes with an optional off-road package and the additional kit adds two-axle suspension, controllable M sport rear differential and four specially designed off-road driving modes – snow, sand, gravel, and rocks.

From the inside, BMW looks to maintain its promising interiors with comfortable seating space and an all-black theme. It also sports a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, comprised with standard and optional features like BMW’s voice assistant, advanced gesture controls, wi-fi connectivity, wireless charging, and wireless Apple CarPlay compatibility.

From the safety perspective, BMW X6 stays upfront with BMW’s active driving assistant involving radar cruise control, blind-spot detection, forward collision warning, and park distance control. Overall, the BMW X6 is a complete package of promising interiors, high-quality performance and intriguing designs highlighted by the shining Black color.
