Good News for EV Enthusiasts; Hyundai Kona Electric is now Cheaper
As per the Indian Government, EVs are the mode of preserving our environment, conventional fuels and they should be promoted to a greater extent. To support EVs, the government offered several subsidies to encourage consumers. Now, the GST council has decreased GST on electric vehicles by 5% from 12% and the GST on EV chargers to 5% from 18%. The new rates have been effectively applied from August 01 which has resulted in price decline for several Electronic vehicles.
Hyundai Kona Electric was launched for Rs. 25.30Lakhs and now with the implementation of new GST rates, the price for the vehicle has declined to Rs. 23.71Lakhs. Along with that, the government has also promoted the infrastructure for electric vehicles by declining the GST rates and now it will be much easier for the consumers to utilize the vehicles up to the full potential.
Hyundai Kona sports a 39.2kWh battery pack with an all-electric ARAI certified mileage of 452kms on a full charge. Generating a peak power of 134.13bhp and 395Nm, this vehicle has the potential to reach from 0-100 in just 9.7 seconds. The company is also offering two chargers with the Kona SUV that involves a 3-pin socket portable charger and a 7kWh AC wall Box Charger.
With the visible decrease in the price of Hyundai Kona Electric, there are chances that other companies would also reduce the price of EVs but there are no official statements given so far.
