Lamborghini to Take Home the Title of ‘Fastest Hybrid Car of All Time’ with ‘Sián’
Italian automaker Lamborghini will soon start production of their first hybrid supercar Lamborghini Sián that would boast an electric powertrain, making it the ‘Fastest Lamborghini of all time’. The vehicle was unveiled ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show 2019 and it will also be the first hybrid model from the carmaker to go into production.
Under the hood, this creation will sport a 785 horsepower V12 engine and a 34 horsepower electric motor. It would produce a combined thermal and electric power of 819 horsepower or 602 kilowatts.
As per the brand, this will also be the most powerful Lamborghini that has ever been produced. As per Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali, Lamborghini Sián is the representative of the first step in Lamborghini’s route to electrification and would also showcase the next-gen V12 engine of Lamborghini.
The Sián would sport the world’s first application of a supercapacitor for hybridization capable of storing 10 times the power of a lithium-ion battery. It is placed in the bulkhead between the cockpit and engine and is three times more powerful than a battery of the same weight and three times lighter than a battery producing the same power.
The supercapacitor weighs up to 34kg which allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0-100kmph under 2.8 seconds. It becomes possible due to the lowest ever weight-to-power ratio of the Lamborghini V12 family. This unique technology from the Italian manufacturers allows Sián to reach up to a top speed of 350kmph.
The vehicle will have a regenerative braking system that would allow the car’s energy storage system to be fully charged every time the rider implements brakes.
But the creators of this amazing vehicle do not stop just at increasing the power of the vehicle. Lamborghini Sián will feature a sharp and sculptured shape leading to an uncluttered form justifying the futuristic design of Lamborghini.
Along with the futuristic design, the vehicle also receives changes in its characteristic aero wings and the rear of the vehicle will feature a hexagonal design that would highlight six hexagonal taillights just like Lamborghini Countach.
It will also feature a low front with an integrated carbon-fiber splitter on the front bumper which will be highlighted by Y-Shaped headlights.
To control the high-tension at such an incredible speed, airflow is directed through the front splitters and the front bonnet, through side air intakes and outlets and over the rear spoiler ensuring maximum aerodynamic efficiency.
A vehicle at such a speed can easily get deflected by air pressure and to stop such an accident, the vehicle equips active cooling vanes onto the car’s rear that automatically starts to work after Sián’s smart-material elements respond to the temperature generated by the exhaust system.
Currently, the Lamborghini will produce just 63 Siáns in the honor of the company’s founding year, 1963, and each of them will be individually styled by its owners making each model unique. Sián translates to flash or lightning in the Bolognese dialect which means, this vehicle from the Italian manufacturers is meant to set records of its own.
