MG eZS Spotted Testing on Indian Roads; Might Get Launched in Late 2019

After the successful launch of Hyundai Kona Electric, the Indian automobile market was looking forward to the arrival of MG eZS. The all-electric SUV’s launch was pushed from late 2019 to early 2020, but now a bunch of SUVs were spotted testing on the roads of the country.

The testing models for the MG eZS looked a lot like the global-spec model, which was unveiled in China. These models were spotted with the same headlamps with LED DRLs, same aerodynamic efficient alloy wheels and intricate grille design that equips the charging port.

The model to be launched in India might not feature the radar sensors on the lower front bumper like the global-spec model. But, who knows the higher variant of this vehicle might get the specs that were unveiled in the global model.

As per MG, they have already started the production of eZS at the Halol facility in Gujarat and will be tested across different states to bring out the best output from this car.

MG eZS would get a conventional dashboard layout with a rotary dial in the center console to toggle between the drive modes. It is also expected to equip an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with a customized steering wheel with controllers for the entire car.

Currently, there is no confirmation about the engine of the vehicle but the MG eZS UK-spec sports a 44.5kWh lithium-ion battery to power an electric motor churning out 133Hp and 353Nm of torque. It gets a range of 262km but under the ARAI testing, it might raise to 400km on a full charge.

Using a normal charging unit, MG eZS will be charged completely in about six hours. However, the 50kW DC charger will charge it up to 80% in just 40 minutes. MG eZS will be a direct rival of the Kona Electric and is expected to be priced at Rs. 22Lakhs.
