MG Maxus D90 SUV to Launch in Final Quarter of 2020
British Automotive Brand Morris Garages made its India debut with the midsize SUV Hector this year. The brand instantly got a lot of attention from retailers for its first launch in the Indian market and registered retail of 9,670 units until October 2019. Looking at the response towards the first SUV, MG has planned a series of SUVs for the Indian market in the coming months.
One of these SUV is the all-electric ZS EV which is expected to go on sale by January 2020. The second SUV to be launched will be a six-seat version of the Hector, which will be released in the first half of 2020. The third vehicle from the British Automotive is the Maxus D90 SUV which is expected to be released by the end of 2020.
So, what should you be expecting from the MG Maxus D90 SUV?
D90 is the flagship SUV of the Chinese automobile manufacturer Maxus which is a subsidiary of MG’s parent company, SAIC. In the global market, D90 is built on the light truck platform with a chunky design and bold upright stance. The India version of the Maxus D90 is expected to get a three-row seating with a standard SUV body. The three-row SUV seating will be a seven-seat or eight-seat configuration.
Feature Rich Package
In the domestic market, the top-spec of the D90 comes with LED headlights, LED DRLs, a panoramic sunroof, heated wing mirrors, gesture-controlled tailgate, ambient lighting, three-zone automatic air-conditioning, an 8.0-inch multi-info instrument cluster display and a 12.3–inch touchscreen infotainment system. Moreover, the cabin of the vehicle is also neatly designed with leather upholstery and powered front seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions.
Safety of the passengers in this vehicle is taken care of by six airbags, brake assist, ESP, hill-hold control, hill-descent control, a tire pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.
Petrol and Diesel Powertrains
D90 comes with a 224hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic gearbox. The same version of the vehicle is expected to arrive in India. MG can also add the diesel powertrain to the India-spec model along with rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive options.
Expected to debut in late 2020, D90 will be placed above MG Hector with an estimated price range of Rs. 27.35Lakhs, and will go up against Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4, and the Isuzu MU-X.
