ShiftCam Technology Equipped BMW S1000RR Launched
The most awaited superbike of the month finally saw the light of the day on June 27 in Delhi. BMW launched all three variants of the S1000RR priced at Rs. 18.50Lakhs for the Standard model, Rs. 20.95Lakhs for the Pro model and Rs.22.95Lakhs for Pro M Sport (all prices, ex-showroom, India).
With the updated electronic package on the motorcycle, BMW has provided better control, more speed, and an equally balanced vehicle. The six-axis IMU powers the corning ABS and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), assisted with Hayes brakes instead of Brembos. Even the suspensions witness a change as the discontinued Sachs-branded suspensions get replaced by Marzocchi suspensions.
Other updates get their visibility due to the redesigned chassis components and a WSBK-inspired swingarm. The new and lighter engine and frame reduce the weight of this behemoth making it 11Kg lesser, up to 197kg kerb weight. The top-spec M package gets the kerb weight figured down to 193.5kg.
Another amazing feature of the S1000RR is the riding modes that it provides; the standard bike gets four riding modes – Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race whereas Sports and the M package get additional pro riding modes called Race Pro 1, Race Pro 2, and the Race Pro 3, which can be toggled through a new 6.5-inch full-TFT display.
BMW S1000RR will be competing against some of the giants in this industry enlisted as Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, Honda CBR1000RR, Ducati Panigale V4, and Suzuki GSZ-R1000R.
