Special Pink Cabs Launched To Assure Safer Travel For Women
For the very first time in Jammu and Kashmir, the district administration in Rajouri in collaboration with the Motor Vehicle Department launched pink vehicles on International Girl Child Day to provide a safer travel experience to every woman. There will be six vehicles exclusively for women.
District Development Commissioner Mohammad AijazAsad stated that the pink vehicles have especially been launched for women and girl students to provide a sense of dignified travelling to women.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Asad remarked, “Transport department conducted a survey in which it found out that girl students were facing problems in commuting due to overcrowded public transport vehicles. So keeping that in mind we launched these vehicles. This initiative is intrinsic for the empowerment of girl child. ”
He further claimed that a six eight-seater pink vehicles will ply between Old Bus stand to Government Medical College and AH, New Bus stand to Government Medical College, and Old Bus stand to Khandli. The availability of the buses are from 8.00 am to 8.30 pm every day. The routes have been chosen only after Motor Vehicle Department conducted a survey.
He has also requested everyone to spread awareness in the society about the ”BetiBachaoBetiPadhao” campaign. He urged the public to cooperate for the mission and make this a success in the district.
About the new campaign, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Rajouri, YoughalManhas remarked, “I would like to congratulate the women here on this special occasion. Required and feasible routes have been considered which will be covered by these vehicles to provide ease of travel to the women. I think the right to proper and safe transportation is part of a dignified life for a woman.”
