Tata to Unveil Nexon EV by Mid-December 2019
After a long wait, Tata Motors is most likely to take the wraps off its first electric SUV by the end of 2019. The Nexon EV, based on Tata Nexon will enter the market sometime during January and will most likely feature the brand’s Ziptron EV technology.
As revealed earlier, Nexon EV’s Ziptron powertrain is designed to tackle the Indian driving and climate conditions and it also provides adequate range and performance for Indian buyers. Nexon EV comes packed with lithium-ion cells and features liquid cooling to maintain ideal operating temperature. As per the company, SUV’s battery pack comes encased in a high-strength steel casing and boasts an IP67 rating. This rating ensures the highest standards for waterproofing and dust protection. Along with that, Tata Motors will also offer a standard 8-year warranty on the battery pack and motor.
The Ziptron technology in Nexon EV will be featured in Altroz EV and Tigor EV in the future. As long as the competition is concerned, Nexon EV’s will compete against all-electric Mahindra XUV300 that is expected to be launched by mid-2020.
