When it comes to BMW, everyone remembers the legendary BMW 3 series that gained attraction and appraisal around the globe. Now, the company has come up with the seventh generation of its popular series at a price of Rs. 41.40Lakhs to which the launch concluded on August 21.

Codenamed G20, the latest luxury sedan is available in petrol as well as diesel engine options. The company will offer it in three trim levels, the 320d sport, the 320d Luxury Line and the 330i M Sport. Based on the Cluster Architecture platform, similar to the 5 & 7 series, the new sedan is larger than its predecessors and more attractive in terms of styling. For the styling quotient, G20 retains the basic silhouette from the F30 but with plenty of tweaks all around.

The front aggressiveness for the vehicle comes from the U-shaped LED daytime running lights that replace the traditional ones. At the backside, consumers get new 3’s L-shaped tail-lights that are also considered as the biggest departure from the classic BMW design.

Under the hood, BMW 3 series comes with the option of 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. The 330i/Sports model churns out 258hp and 400Nm of torque while the rest variants produce 190hp and 400Nm of torque. All three variants are equipped with an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox as standard.

Coming to the features, the 320d gets an 8.8i-inch infotainment screen, the 320d Luxury Line and 330i M Sport are equipped with a bigger 10.25-inch unit. These are controlled through the latest version of BMW’s iDrive system which can be controlled via rotary dial, touchpad, touchscreen, voice commands or gesture control. The top-level variant of the new series comes equipped with LED taillights and headlights, three-zone automatic climate control, a digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, an electric sunroof, front and rear parking sensor, and a parking camera.

The BMW 3 Series will compete against Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4, and the Jaguar XE.
