The Next-Gen Honda City Engine Details Revealed before Unveiling
The Fifth-gen model of the most successful cars from Honda will be unveiled by next month. The next-gen Honda City is scheduled to go on sale in the Thai market at first and then will be followed by other ASEAN regions. The car is expected to be launched in the next year for the Indian market.
Fifth-gen Honda City is expected to get three engine options and will be sold globally. The first engine option involves a new 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that will churn out 120hp and might feature a turbocharger from Brog Warner. The engine will be connected to a 6-speed manual or CVT gearbox.
The second engine option involves a 1.5-litre petrol mill coupled with Honda’s new compact i-MMD mild-hybrid technology. Power and torque for this engine option are yet to be known but this technology will also be used in the upcoming Jazz which is scheduled to be launched by October end.
The third option will feature a 1.5-litre diesel engine delivering 100hp and 200Nm of torque while being BS-IV compliant. However, Honda will also launch the BS-VI compliant engine for the diesel option for the fifth-gen City. It will be connected to a 6-speed manual gearbox as well as CVT transmission (for the first time).
